The Merope Nebula (IC 349) is a small region of dust that shines brightly by reflected light from the star Merope. The stars in the photo are members of the Pleiades open star cluster (M45, the "Seven Sisters"). The nebula is not part of the cluster but possibly a supernova remnant.
