Gallery 3 - Earth Bound   >   Atmospheric Optics   >   Glory

Our position in our airplane marks the antisolar point which is also the centre of the glory produced by the cloud droplets. This image was taken while flying to the Bahamas. Large puffy clouds enroute set up the oportunity for the glory. The Sun was very high in the sky, so Peter had to bank the plane almost 90 degrees the see the glory underneath us.

This wide field view shows more rings on the big cloud. Photos by Debra, with Peter as Pilot.
